how to increase productivity at work

Don’t you love those days where you wake up feeling rested and refreshed, power through your day at work, look up at the clock at it’s already the afternoon? Love that feeling when you leave work that you have achieved so much and feel like you really kicked goals today? But then other days when you know you have worked hard but not too much to show for it?

Increasing your productivity at work is all about creating good working habits that will make us much more productive, allowing us to achieve great results and be in control of our work.

Here are some tips and tricks to make these days more frequent and help hit your goals faster:

how to increase productivity at work 1

Write a To Do List

I find this works really well and I mostly try and do this the night before I leave the office. It give me great clarity, puts my mind at ease and I feel a sense of calm, knowing what I must achieve the next day. This really helps with focus for the tasks at hand.

Prioritise What Needs To be Done

Make sure that whatever is on your To Do List are the things that must get done the next day – without fail.

Sleep and Exercise

Sleep and exercise are so important and are direct contributors to your performance levels and confidence. Eating a healthy diet and staying hydrated are also direct contributors to your success.

Make first thing in the morning “Your Time”

Start each day doing something for you; whether that’s going to the gym, going for a walk, eating a healthy breakfast or even buying yourself a nice coffee. This is your quality time before the day gets underway.

Do all of your harder tasks in the morning

This especially works if you are a morning person like me; don’t procrastinate, do the hardest, most mentally consuming tasks and the tasks you keep putting off first up and you will already feel like a winner! If you are an evening person, you may try doing these at the end of the day.

Concentrate on One Task at a Time

So you don’t get overwhelmed, concentrate on completing one task at a time. You will feel like you have achieved it and be able to tick things off, one at a time.

Hard Work and Focus

Being organised is the first step towards efficiency and success. Working smarter not harder is also very important but you will never achieve your goals if you don’t put in the effort and work hard.

And lastly:

Be Honest and Hold Yourself Accountable

This a really important one. Be honest with yourself about how hard you are working and how much effort you are putting in. Your results will directly affect the effort you have put in.

Success does take time and hard work. If you adopt some of these principles, you will be many steps closer to achieving all that you set out to at work.
