In part two of my advice of what skills any leader will require now, for 2030 and beyond: Information Management and Critical Thinking are key to learn and develop.
Information Management

We are already using data in all aspects of our organisations (or should be!) from sales to engagement to productivity. Systems can produce a whole heap of interesting and useful data, how we use it however is the key to success.
Some organisations / leaders will suffer from analysis paralysis – too much data and not knowing how to action it whilst others might look at the data but maybe go on gut feel or what they observe.
Either can be right!
Top tips:
- Use data but humanise it – we all want to know the why behind the facts!
- Stay outcome focused
- Keep teams motivated and inspired
- Ensure all organisational barriers are down
Critical Thinking
This much used and much required skill is key – linking to problem solving, customer service – in fact all facets of how an organisation works, particularly in an uncertain and changing environment.
If you can analyse all forms of facts and make sound conclusions this impacts decision making, builds trust really makes you stand out a s a leader.
Tips:
- Be self-aware – know how you are wired – are you logical / analytical or a low attention span, fly by the seat of your pants personality?
- Prioritise – what decisions do you need to make now / soon / later?
- Once you have the solution – communicate it confidently to all who need to know
- Implement feedback loops to sense check bottlenecks / feedback
If you are an emerging leader, I recommend you delve into these two skills as they, along with Impact and Influence outlined in my previous blog, are great tools to have in your armoury!
Stay tuned!

You’re learning systems, figuring out who does what, remembering names, and at the same time trying to show why you are here and why you were […]
Relocating for a new opportunity is often described as an exciting next step in someone’s career. While that is certainly true, what I have learned through my own recent move is that relocation is far more than simply changing cities or starting a new job. It is a process of adjustment, learning, and personal growth […]
Eight weeks ago, I started a new career in recruitment after 11 years as a legal assistant. What led me here was not a sudden epiphany. It was a nearly 12-month-long job search that allowed me to experience firsthand what candidates say is broken about the process. As a candidate, I felt invisible more times […]
AI is transforming recruitment – but the phone still wins. Here’s how to blend both in 2026. Over the past year, I’ve attended several staffing industry events (in-person and online), with one goal: staying abreast of the latest trends in recruitment and talent acquisition, especially around Artificial Intelligence (AI). As we step into 2026, here […]
