Over the past few months, we’ve welcomed four new Recruiters into our team and the impact has been immediate.
What has stood out most isn’t just their results, but the lift in energy, ideas, and culture they’ve brought with them.
Each of them has a completely different personality and working style:
- One is quietly efficient, polite, and just gets on with delivering quality work.
- One is structured and process‑driven, embracing every bit of training and turning it into consistent best practice.
- One is smart, curious and can work off limited information.
- And one is proactive, innovative, and determined – already sharing new ideas, including a Boolean search method we’d never considered.
Fresh energy changes everything
One of the most noticeable things has been the shift in energy across the team. Suddenly the vibe feels different. A bit lighter. A bit louder. A bit more curious.
These four people have lifted the overall energy without even trying. They’ve brought enthusiasm, questions, and new ways of thinking and this is rubbing off on the rest of us.
And honestly? It’s been refreshing.
The unexpected boost
One of the most powerful benefits of hiring new people is what it does for existing staff, especially the long-term, experienced team members, including me.
Bringing in new team members opens the door for the rest of us to:
- Mentor and coach
- Share stories
- Transfer knowledge and technical skills
- Feel proud of what we’ve built
Several of our longer-term staff have already commented on how much they’ve enjoyed helping the new hires settle in. It’s reignited their sense of purpose and connection to the team. Sometimes people just need a new colleague to ask, “How do you do this?” to remind them they’re actually pretty excellent at what they do.
Hitting the ground running
Recruitment is fast-paced and this group has delivered results far quicker than expected.
- They’re placing candidates.
- They’re building pipelines.
- They’re learning fast.
- They’re contributing ideas.
- They’re showing initiative.
A fast start speaks volumes, not just about their ability, but their mindset.
Hiring isn’t just about filling vacant roles
It’s about injecting fresh energy, introducing new ideas, and giving your existing team opportunities to grow in ways they didn’t expect.
We’ve certainly seen that firsthand the past few months and it’s been a great reminder of the power of bringing the right people onboard.

[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]The first few months in a new job are strange. I guess you walk into an environment where everyone basically understands how things work, and you’re the one trying to piece it together at the same time. You’re learning systems, figuring out who does what, remembering names, and at the same time trying to show why you are here and why you were […]
Starting a new job in a new industry gave me a sense of excitement, uncertainty and eagerness to learn. Coming into the role as a recruitment consultant at Optimum Consulting, my basic understanding of recruitment was “finding people a job”, and whilst that may be a very vague part of the job, I’ve quickly understood that there is much more to it. […]
Eight weeks ago, I started a new career in recruitment after 11 years as a legal assistant. What led me here was not a sudden epiphany. It was a nearly 12-month-long job search that allowed me to experience firsthand what candidates say is broken about the process. As a candidate, I felt invisible more times […]
