We all have stress and pressure in our lives, both personal and work. It seems to be a common theme from both clients and candidates, commenting on how busy they are. And it doesn’t sound like things are slowing down any time soon, especially with Financial Year End just around the corner.
Here are a few handy tips that may help in dealing with pressure:
- Plan, plan, plan – post it notes, lists, highlighters – you have name it – I have it!
- Everything is urgent but it’s important to prioritise – make a list of the top things that need to be done daily, regardless of what happens
- Highlight when each one is completed. It makes such a difference to your positive mental attitude and feeling of accomplishment
- Identify when it is going to be a busy time and be prepared as much as possible
- Focus on daily tasks and completing those, rather than worrying about what will happen next week, next month etc
- Try not to get overwhelmed by breaking each job down, in order of priority.
- Teamwork – lean on team members who may be happy to help out and who may not be as busy at that point in time
- Work hard – things always won’t be as busy as they are now, so put in the extra effort. The rewards will certainly follow.
- Stop procrastinating! I have been meaning to write this blog for the last few weeks now and of course; I am writing it at the last minute!
- Change your outlook – accept pressure as being a part of life so it doesn’t become overwhelming.
- Review your previous behaviour and learn from that. Look back on situations and see how you could have done things differently and adopt that the next time you are in a similar situation. We aren’t perfect but to really grow we must try and do this.
- Look after yourself – eat well, get lots of sleep, exercise and plenty of water!
- Breathe
- Have fun while doing it! We can’t escape pressure so we may as well push through it and have a smile and a laugh!
And lastly, to my network of Accountants, please don’t leave resourcing for your Year End Accounting work until the last minute. Our Clients have been getting really busy in the lead up to EOFY, so hiring contractors can help ease your teams’ workloads and ensure they meet their deadlines.
Our Contractors, with varying levels of experience, are available immediately to assist you with your Year End.

Well, I am sure you are all glued to the TV watching the Australian Tennis Open or if you are one of the lucky ones and living in Melbourne, or have tickets you may have been to a game or two over the last couple of weeks. At first glance, recruitment might look more like […]
Business is built on relationships: from customers, strategic partnerships to relationships between sales and operations, we all know collaboration is a holy grail aspiration, we all know that people work for people and the relationship between employee and manager is a key engagement driver. But as we head into 2026 and beyond a new(ish) relationship […]
Hiring the right people is one of the most important capabilities a company needs to develop. But is there a secret to getting it right more often than not? One of the most common reasons placements struggle is not a lack of skill, experience, or even cultural fit. More often, it comes down to expectations […]
There are plenty of articles written about Gen Z, but very few written by us. As an 18-year-old working in recruitment, I get to see first-hand how early-career talent approaches work, what motivates us, and what makes us excited or disengaged. Here’s what I’ve noticed. Clarity and transparency are non-negotiable Gen Z grew up hearing […]
